Dr. Henry Bastaman started his career at the Ministry of Environment in 1985. He leads the implementation of sustainable consumption and production development across sectors and within the partnership of government, business and civil society in synergy with the development of the Green Economy / Low Carbon Economy in Indonesia. He has been actively involved in Earth Charter Indonesia and serves as a guest lecturer for M.A. students and as an examiner and a co-promoter for Ph.D. students at the State University of Jakarta, the Bogor Institute of Agriculture and the University of Padjadjaran in Bandung. He holds M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Environmental Studies from York University in Toronto, Canada. Currently, as Director General at the Forestry and Environment Research, Development and Innovation Agency (FOERDIA) within the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of Indonesia, he leads groups of researchers and R&D management to provide scientific justifications for national policies in the environment and forestry field.
