An Alexander von Humboldt Fellow since 2007, and a member of FAO's UN-REDD team (2010-2012), Rosa María Román-Cuesta is currently a consultant at the Centre of International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and at the University of Wageningen (WUR), where she runs research on topics related to tropical ecology (i.e. tropical fire management, identification of hotspots of land use emissions, wetland and peatland mapping, and tropical forest sinks) with a focus on climate change, and climate change mitigation. She works from plot level to landscape levels through remote sensing and GIS.
