Ruth Meinzen-Dick is a Senior Research Fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and Coordinator of the CGIAR Program on Collective Action and Property Rights (CAPRi), and past president of the International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC). She holds a PhD in Development Sociology from Cornell University. She has conducted extensive interdisciplinary research on water policy, local organizations, property rights, gender analysis, and the impact of agricultural research on poverty, with field work in Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda, and India, where she was born and raised.
