Michael Kleine is the Deputy Executive Director of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO). He has been working as scientist and consultant in various bi- and multilateral projects in developing countries, mostly in tropical and subtropical regions of Asia and Africa since 1985. His work has revolved around sustainable management of natural and man-made tropical forests (forest and land use planning; forest inventory; growth and yield modelling; silviculture and forest certification), forest organization, and forest policy. Since 2001, Mr. Kleine is working at IUFRO Headquarters on various capacity building and science networking projects around the world. He is a professional forester and holds Master’s, Doctoral and Habilitation degrees from BOKU University, Vienna, Austria.
