Juan Carlos Gonzalez Aybar has led Althelia’s investment deployment in Latin America since August 2013. He is in charge of managing the fund’s exposure on REDD+ projects in the sub-continent. His role extends to coordinating with project developers and communities on the ground, structuring of financially viable sustainable land use projects in high priority conservation areas that mix avoided deforestation, restoration of degraded lands and the sustainable production of certified and decarbonized agricultural and forest products such as cocoa, coffee, FSC timber, rubber, Brazilian chestnuts, and fruits, among others. His professional interests are market mechanisms and innovative business models for Climate Finance, Carbon Finance, Impact Finance, Social Business, and Sustainable Supply Chain/Sourcing. Previously, he worked as Business Development Officer and Environmental Markets and Shared Value Creation Manager at Asociación para la Investigación y Desarrollo Integral (AIDER), Managing Partner of Midland Overseas Int’l S. C. Ltd., and Co-Founder and Managing Director, Midland Overseas Peru among others.
