Andrew Mitchell is the Founder and Executive Director of the Global Canopy Programme in Oxford. Under his leadership, GCP has strongly advocated for the inclusion of forests in the UN climate regime. Andrew initiated the Forest Footprint Disclosure Project (now CDP Forests) and works with the financial sector through the Natural Capital Declaration and through Forest 500, the world’s first rainforest ‘ratings agency’ benchmarking powerbrokers in the deforestation economy. GCP specializes in forest finance and is currently developing the business case for Tropical Landscape Green Bonds. As a zoologist, Mr. Mitchell pioneered research in the high canopy of tropical rainforests.
