Andrea Carmen, Yaqui Nation, is the Executive Director of the International Indian Treaty Council (IITC) and was IITC’s team leader for the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. She has many years of experience working with Indigenous communities from North, Central, South America and the Pacific, and participated in UN bodies addressing human rights, sustainable development, environmental justice and food sovereignty. She also co-coordinated a number of international conferences and events, including the Indigenous Peoples Rio + 20 International Indigenous Peoples Conference. Ms. Carmen is currently a member of the Global Steering Committee of the Indigenous Peoples Forum on Climate Change, representing the North America region.
