Alessandro Baccini is an Associate Scientist with the Woods Hole Research Center. He is a remote sensing scientist whose interests focus on the use of satellite data for the monitoring of forest carbon, land cover, land cover change and the effects of environmental change on the terrestrial carbon cycle at the regional and global scale. Before joining the Center he was a research associate at Boston University and worked at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations for the Forest Resources Assessment 1990 and 2000, monitoring tropical deforestation. He received his doctorate from Boston University.
