Patricia Iglecias

Secretary of Environment, São Paulo

Patricia Iglecias, São Paulo’s Secretary of Environment, is a lawyer and an associate professor in the Department of Civil Law at the University of São Paulo (USP) Law School. She is also Vice President for the Southeast Region of the Law Institute for a Green Planet (Região Sudeste do Instituto O Direito por um Planeta Verde), coordinator for the State of São Paulo, of the Association of Environmental Law Professors from Brazil (APRODAB), and part of the Multidisciplinary Studies Centre for Solid Waste at USP (CerSO), the Center for Studies and Research on Disaster (Ceped / USP) and the European Environmental Law Association.  Ms. Iglecias obtained her PhD (2007) and MA (2002) from the same institution. Dr. Iglecias teaches master’s and doctorate courses at the Law Faculty and the Environmental Science Program (PROCAM) at USP, and is a leading researcher at the Applied Study Group for the Environment (GEAMA) where she studies issues on environmental and civil law, sustainable consumption, reverse logistics, solid waste and post-consumer liability, shared responsibility, causation, contaminated areas, liability for environmental damage, and environmental compensation.
