What

Landscape approaches are gaining ground in the arena of sustainable agriculture. Deborah Bossio, Director of Soils Research at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), will present examples of these approaches in practice and research. The talk will focus on the landscape level as an important entry point, related advantages but also the challenges.For agriculture, assessing the impact the sector has on livelihoods, emissions and competing land uses is as important as understanding its dependence on natural ecosystems. Bossio’s work focuses on ecosystem services, environmental impacts of agriculture and links between soil and water management.
