Satrio A. Wicaksono is the Forest and Landscape Restoration Manager at WRI-Indonesia. Working closely with the Global Restoration Initiative team based in DC, he leads WRI restoration efforts in Indonesia and conducts research on Indonesian restoration, forestry, land use, and other natural resource issues. Together with key stakeholders in restoration, he works to address obstacles and galvanizes support and commitments to landscape restoration in Indonesia, both at the national and sub-national levels.
Before joining WRI, Satrio conducted research projects on Indonesian climate and coordinated scientific projects in Indonesia as part of his graduate research. He also served as the North American Liaison Officer for the International Indonesian Scholars‘ Association.
Satrio is currently completing a PhD at Brown University on the variability of Indonesian precipitation and vegetation across geological and historical timescales. He holds a master’s degree in geological sciences from Brown University and a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University, where he double majored in geology and environmental studies and completed a certificate in international relations.
Satrio’s interests include traveling, architecture, swimming, as well as Javanese dance and gamelan.
