Coordinator of COICA, the coordinating body of the indigenous organizations of the Amazon basin
Edwin Vasquez is Coordinator of COICA, the coordinating body of the indigenous organizations of the Amazon basin. He is an indigenous leader from the people of Huitoto in the Amazon region of Loreto. Previous positions held include President of the Federation of indigenous communities of the border region-Putumayo, Peru, and Vice-President of the inter-ethnic association for development in the Peruvian forest (AIDESEP). Mr. Vasquez also served as member of the international coordinating committee of the International Alliance of Indigenous and Tribal Peoples of the Tropical Forests (Chaing Mai, Thailand) and Vice-President of the Climate Alliance of European Cities with Indigenous Rainforest Peoples.
