More than 150 amateur and professional photographers participated in this year’s competition which challenged contestants to depict landscape connections. Twenty photographs were selected for exhibitions at the Global Landscapes Forum venue and in a public space in Paris from 30th November to 20th December. In addition, the jury awarded three prizes for the best entries.

Photographers had to show that a landscape is more than a green pasture or majestic mountains. In line with the Forum’s motto “Everything is connected”, pictures should make a connection between the people in the landscape and the different elements.

This is what Indonesian Jaya Setiawan Gulo says about his picture:

Old-growth coniferous trees still surround the Wallace Falls in Washington, although there is strong evidence of logging in the area, where old stumps have been left as a reminder of the pristine forest that once stood here.
