Agus P. Sari is Chief Executive Officer of Belantara Foundation, a private foundation striving to conserve, restore, and protect forests and peatlands while developing local economies and prosperity of the communities in Indonesia through landscape approach.
Prior, he was Senior Advisor of UNDP on REDD+ and sustainable commodities, and Deputy Chair of the Indonesian Presidential REDD+ Management Agency. He co-chaired the UNFCCC Work Program on REDD+ Financing in 2012-2013, and the UNFCCC Contact Group on REDD+ Financing in 2013. He was also Country Director, Indonesia, and Strategic Policy Director, Southeast Asia, of Ecosecurities, then the largest carbon asset development and management company, and Executive Director of Pelangi, an Indonesian environmental think tank.
In 2009, under his leadership, Ecosecurities Indonesia was awarded the Growth Leadership Award in Renewable Energy by Frost and Sullivan. Until 2007, he was a member and Lead Author of the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the most authoritative scientific panel on climate change.
Nowadays, while managing Belantara’s investment portfolio, he enjoys teaching about Sustainability at the School of Business and Management, Bandung Institute of Technology, photography, and be owned by his dozen of dogs.
