Be you a farmer, a forester, an environmentalist, an artist, an artisan or a policy maker, “landscape” may have a very different meaning to you. Perhaps not THAT different. At the World Forestry Congress, in September 2015, we asked young people from different regions of the world, what Landscapes meant to them. What is a landscape? What is a “landscapes approach”?

A painting, a scenery, synergies between nature and people, the management and use of the environment across borders and beyond people’s interests, were some of the ideas that came out of our talks with these young people from Uganda, Mexico, USA, Germany, Peru, Kenya and more.

The Youth in Landscapes initiative is gathering more and more young people  from different sectors, with a common vision: a sustainable future built upon the idea that all is connected. They believe in the importance of having young agriculturists, foresters, environmentalists, social entrepreneurs etc come together to discuss crucial challenges that they can tackle by joining their own expertise and area of work.

Still unclear on what this all means? Watch our video and join the discussions at the Global Landscapes Forum and the Youth in Landscapes initiative, December 1-6, in Paris, on the sideline of the COP21. #ThinkLandscape!
