The Youth in Landscapes\u00a0Initiative united young innovators (aged 18 \u2013 35) to\u00a0develop real-world\u00a0solutions to land-use challenges in partnership with organizations working on the ground.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

From 1-4 December,\u00a050 collaborative, compassionate and courageous young innovators held\u00a0an intensive leadership development and project accelerator workshop, working in\u00a05 groups on\u00a0solving one of\u00a05 landscapes challenges<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Each group pitched\u00a0their solution to a dragon\u2019s den of business, policy and science experts for feedback during the 2015 Global Landscapes Forum.<\/p>\n

The aim was\u00a0to generate exciting new ideas\/projects\/campaigns or support existing ideas\/projects\/campaigns tackling real-world landscapes challenges and see these taken up by organizations and\/or individuals.<\/p>\n

Workshop\u00a0agenda (1-4 December)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The\u00a0workshop was\u00a0focused on developing teamwork skills that are\u00a0essential for collaborative problem solving and pitching solutions at\u00a0a professional level. Each participant brought a unique landscape\u00a0approach from around the world, and the organizers\u00a0designed the\u00a0workshop\u00a0to\u00a0create friendships and solutions that will last beyond Paris and 2015.\u00a0From the first day, teams had to\u00a0practice and prepare to\u00a0represent young people\u00a0at the 2015 Global Landscapes Forum.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Youth in GLF and Dragon’s den panel\u00a0(5-6 December)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

But the involvement of youth didn’t\u00a0stop there! After a successful pilot \u2018Youth in GLF\u2019 program in 2014, youth delegates at the GLF also participated in:<\/p>\n

Mentoring:<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Senior GLF delegates and youth delegates with\u00a0similar backgrounds were paired and encouraged to attend a GLF\/COP session together. Read more about the mentoring program here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMeet the leader\u201d:<\/h4>\n

A small group of youth was\u00a0given opportunity to meet high-level plenary speakers in a one-on-one setting.<\/p>\n

Youth leadership roles:<\/h4>\n

Youth delegates were asked to moderate sessions, act as rapporteurs, and take on other roles.<\/p>\n

Dragon’s den:<\/h4>\n
