In October 2015, she\u00a0was elected to the position of Vice-Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), during its 42nd plenary session in Dubrovnik (Croatia). She will therefore play a crucial role in preparing the next IPCC Assessment Report. Ms. Krug has received a number of awards, including the Title of Knight \u2013 granted by the Ordem do M\u00e9rito Cartogr\u00e1fico by the Brazilian Society of Cartography. She holds a PhD in spatial statistics and is a senior researcher at the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (National Institute for Space Research) in Brazil.
