He is a member of the World Economic Forum, of the Global Agenda Council on Poverty and Sustainable Development; of the Consultative Board of Royal Society\u2019s Human Resilience Project; of the Leadership Council of the UN\u2019s Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), and co-chair of Amazon SDSN. In 1993 he participated in the creation of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), and was founder and president at IMAFLORA. In 2003, he was the first State Secretary for Environment and Sustainable Development in Amazonas.
