Tjokorda Nirarta “Koni” Samadhi

Tjokorda Nirarta “Koni” Samadhi is the Country Director of the World Resources Institute in Indonesia. Prior to joining WRI, Koni worked as Deputy Minister Head of Indonesia’s President Delivery Unit for Development Monitoring and Oversight (UKP4) for 5 years. While in this position, Koni played a leading role in designing policies such as Indonesia’s groundbreaking forest moratorium, establishing Indonesia’s new REDD+ agency (BP REDD+), and driving the OneMap Initiative to harmonize Indonesia’s land use planning. He also ledthe process of synchronizing and harmonizing data generation across sectors and level of government through the OneData Initiative as a strategic step towards the implementation of SDGs.  He previously served as Chair of the Working Group on Forest Moratorium Monitoring, was part of the Indonesia REDD+ Task Force, National Project Director of Low Emission Capacity Building that conceived the Indonesia Green Economy Model, and worked with the UNDP as a Strategic Planning Advisor and Head of Papua Accelerated Development (PADU) Advance Team. Koni holds a PhD in Urban Design from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and is a Licensed Planner in Indonesia.
