Governor of Acre, Brazil
Tião Viana is Assistant Professor and graduate of the Federal University of Acre. He is an experienced politician, being elected Senator of the Republic for two terms, 1999-2007 and 2007-2015. As Senator, he served as Acting President of the Senate from 10/15/2007 to 11/23/2007, was first Vice President of the Federal Senate for 2005-2007, and was later reelected for 2007-2009. In 2010, he was elected Governor of the State of Acre and reelected in 2014 for another term until 2018. He graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Para in 1986 and in 2003 received a PhD in Tropical Medicine from the University of Brasilia’s Center for Tropical Medicine.
