Advisor to the State Minister of Forest, Ethiopian Ministry of Environment and Forest
Tefera Mengistu is Advisor to the State Minister of Forest in the Ministry of Environment and Forest. He is a forester by profession with extensive research and field experience in reforestation and restoration of degraded dry lands. Until recently, he was assistant professor in eco-physiology and restoration ecology at Hawassa University, Wondo Genet College of Forestry and Natural Resources, Ethiopia. He also served as the Dean of the College of Forestry and Natural Resources at Hawassa University. Mr. Mengistu lectured on forest ecology, ecosystem studies, biodiversity conservation and restoration ecology and published papers in peer-reviewed journals on restoration of degraded lands, plant carbon gain and storage, plant functional traits. His educational qualifications are BSc in Forestry, MSc. in Production Forestry and PhD in Eco-physiology focused on the dry degraded lands.
