Senior Scientist, CIFOR
Mariana Rufino is a senior scientist at the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR). At CIFOR, she leads the work on the interphase of agriculture and forestry mainly involved in projects dealing multi-criteria analysis, systems productivity, nutrient cycling, adaptation to climate change and mitigation. Before joining CIFOR, she worked for the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and Wageningen University as system modeler in a number of projects in Africa. During the period at Wageningen University, Mariana was part of team who developed a dynamic model (NUANCES) to analyse trade-offs in farming systems. She received an MSc in Tropical Agriculture and a PhD in Production Ecology and Resource Conservation from Wageningen University.
