Director, Climate, Community & Biodiversity Alliance
Joanna Durbin leads the Climate, Community & Biodiversity Alliance (CCBA), a partnership of non-governmental organizations with a mission to stimulate land management activities that credibly mitigate global climate change, improve the wellbeing and reduce poverty of local communities and conserve biodiversity. Before joining the CCBA in 2007, Ms. Durbin directed the Madagascar Program of an international conservation organization for ten years, implementing community-based conservation projects and innovative conservation incentive agreements with communities for biodiversity conservation and sustainable natural resource management. She has seven years of experience developing and managing standards for the social and environmental safeguards and multiple benefits of land management activities through transparent and inclusive multi-stakeholder processes and over twenty years of experience facilitating the development community-based institutions and shared governance arrangements with government and other partners for effective biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. She holds a PhD.
