Director IIED
Camilla Toulmin is Director of the International Institute for Environment & Development (IIED), having formerly run the organization’s Drylands Programme. An economist by training, she has worked mainly in dryland Africa on agriculture, land, climate and livelihoods, mixing research, policy analysis and advocacy. Ms. Toulmin is Chair of the Board of the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), a trustee of the Franco-British Council and a member of the Royal Society’s Working Group on Resilience. She studied Economics in Cambridge and London, before gaining her doctorate in Economics in Oxford.
