Executive Director, IUFRO
Alexander Buck is Executive Director of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO), the World’s Forest Science Network with headquarters in Vienna, Austria. From 2007 to 2010 he coordinated the Global Forest Expert Panels (GFEP), an IUFRO-led initiative of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests to provide objective and independent scientific assessments of key issues in order to support more informed decision-making at the global level. He also served at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences and at Forest Europe (previously known as “Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe”). Mr. Buck studied Forestry at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna, and Law at the University of Vienna, Austria.
