You are invited to attend the high-level launch of Initiative 20×20, a country-led effort to bring 20 million hectares of degraded land in Latin America and the Caribbean into restoration by 2020. The event will count with the presence of ministers of agriculture and environment, CEOs from impact investment funds, and top research organizations to announce the ground-breaking Initiative 20×20. During the launch, ministers will present their countries’ restoration ambitions, while the impact investors will announce the financial resources that they plan to make available for restoration projects. Learn more at www.initiative20x20.com.
The World Resources Institute (WRI), International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), Center for Tropical Agricultural Research and Education (CATIE), and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) are supporting Initiative 20×20, through the development of monitoring systems, the economic analysis of restoration opportunities, the training and the sharing of experiences between partners and helping implement the countries’ ambitions. The announcements made through Initiative 20×20 will feed into the Bonn Challenge on Forests, Climate Change and Biodiversity, which promotes the restoration of 150 million hectares of land worldwide by 2020.
