“Umek bubu” – Indonesia
Photographer’s comment: “Umek bubu, a smoky kitchen and food storage of traditional households in Timor, Indonesia. In Timor, the dry season can last a long time, up to 8-10 months in a year. When the rainy season comes, farmers plant food and harvest them in the next 4 to 6 months. People save food for famine episodes each year in umek bubu.“
