Summer on the High Ridge Tops–Canada
Photographer’s comment: “Photo shot in the Castle Crown Wilderness in the Canadian Rockies while teaching a conservation studies field course on the Yellowstone to Yukon (Y2Y) ecosystem. I like this photo for it’s depth of field and combination of distances. These flowers are called Yellow Mountain Avens, an alpine adapted species that blooms only in the high summer in the Rockies after the snowmelt. With icy winds and snow still present in July these flowers live on the edge and for me are representative of wilderness and the wild rockies.”
