Landscape of Himalayan Region
Photographer’s comment: “Most of the villages in Uttarakhand and other Hill states have been dependent on forests and its related resources. A number of higher Himalayan forests have been converted into farmlands for food and livelihoods. But, in recent time, the villagers of hills are sustainably utilizing the forest landscape through agro-forestry models, which are not only providing fruit, fuel, fodder and livelihood opportunities but also reducing dependency on one crop variety.“
