Andenes in Huasahuasi
Photographer’s comment: “Huasahuasi is a town known as the leading producer of potato seeds in Peru, with about 300 varieties. For agricultural purposes, most farmers use andenes, which are terraces dug into the slopes of the mountains. Andenes constitute an agricultural system that came from the pre-hispanic cultures. This technology is related to the concept of sustainable agriculture because it favors the microclimate of the environment, contributes to water efficiency and the conservation of productive soil, among others. Besides that, Andenes in Huasahuasi are part of the beautiful scenery which is in visual harmony with their environment.“
